Aleks is also the main chef for the restaurant at the Inn with very much help from his talented wife Simona. You will find his homemade grappas at the entrance.
His 72 year old father is still very active and while still using a cane to assist his walking helps as much as he can.
Klinec is full on biodynamic with his practices without being certified Demeter. When we walked through the vineyard he was prepping the top 30 cm soil for #500 treatment with his compost that he preps in quantity for the vineyards. Geese, chickens, compost, 2 donkeys (Tarzan and Barbie), and the pigs all complete his full circle of life and biodynamics on his property.
The old and original winery was built in 1918 and is still part of the now larger winery and home. Prior to WW2 their wines were some of the most popular and most requested in restaurants from Udine to Cormons, often selling out. After WW2, Yugoslavia took over and of course they could not sell the wines legally. Once Slovenia regained her freedom in 1991, Klinec family was reborn and allowed to sell freely to the market.
