Born in 1998, Vignale di Cecilia was founded by the Brunello family. Paolo Brunello is the farmer and winemaker of the estates various holdings. They have beautiful hillside and valley vineyards throughout Padova in the Euganean Hills of Veneto.
The region has a moderate climate due to a close proximity to the Adriatic Sea. The soils around here are a rare example of volcanic limestone, the only terroir of its kind in Europe. The vineyards at various points on the hills will have more clay or limestone. Red varieties are planted in the vineyards with more clay. Because of the varied soils, the vineyards are often dedicated to certain varieties, or even certain specific wines, like the single vineyard “Val di Spin” Methode Ancestrale.
Paolo farms and makes all the wine himself here, boasting a healthy, but still artisan production of 30,000 bottles per vintage.
Wine guides, awards and various informed patrons of Italian wine have come to appreciate Paolo’s excellent wines. To uphold his high standards, Paolo concentrates on making as he says…
“Fine and elegant wines, innovative in taste and traditional in technique.”
Paolo makes his wines with a sense of quality to price. His range is in that perfect price range for top-quality wines that respect a buyer’s dilemma.
Paolo works with a constant respect for the atmosphere, eliminating the most possible synthetics and valuing manual operations in order to understand the language of the plants. Using less invasive cellar techniques results in wines with great personality that are pleasant at the casual table, but complex and fascinating.
