Three years later in 2008 when I moved back to the same area, a few towns over, my friend Amy (our olive oil producer) brought me to dinner to meet one of her favorite ‘people and wines,’ Giovanna Tiezzi and their wine, Pacina. That night Stefano was not at home, it was just us girls, and we drank and talked, and ate and drank some more and laughed and shared stories and then drank and ate some more (in the Italian way), and when I left, a new beautiful friendship had been born, both with Giovanna and her wine.
At the time I was just starting to put together my ideas and strategies for Indie, and mentioned my little ‘project’ to Giovanna. Without telling me, she decided then and there that she would save their wine for me, and for Indie, and a year later we started together. Their confidence, enthusiasm and generosity has never wavered, in the Indie philosophy and ‘project,’ nor with their time and magical estate where they have hosted countless clients and friends over the years. Giovanna and Stefano, and their wine Pacina will always be a major part of the backbone of Indie.
