OUR PRODUCERS: Champagne Lefèvre

Christophe Lefèvre is part of one of the oldest families of the village of Mont Bonneil. His father took over the agricultural activity of Christophe’s grand-father and his uncle, the viticultural activity.

Christophe Lefèvre’s vineyards are located on a South-facing slope of the Marne Valley, on the right bank of the river Marne. The clayey soil at the top of the hill gives freshness to Christophe’s wines. The calcareous and richer soil at the bottom provides power and different aromas to his blends.

All his vineyards are in the village of Mont Bonneil.

Early in his career Christophe decided to work organically. He understood quickly that the use of chemicals in intensive agriculture was dangerous for him, his neighbors and his vineyards. Before him, his father didn’t like using those chemicals either.

There are several things that makes Christophe’s winemaking special: the splendid coteau of Mont Bonneil, his know-how, an important sense of observation and clean equipment.

Christophe also uses amphoras and new barrels for some special cuvees.
He underlines that above all else, it is the irreproachable quality of the fruit that makes high quality Champagne.
